  My husband Randy, retired from the Navy after 22 1/2 years, now employed with Polk County Physical Planning Department- Health Division as Health Inspector.

  Being a Navy wife, you got use to packing up, moving into a new area, finding a new job, about every three years.  So I have had a variety of jobs, always a learning experience.  Sales, Clerical, Security, Manager of a convenience store (never again!), Insurance.  After recovering from injuries from a car accident, it took awhile to find a job, but God blessed me with the position I have now.  At the time the position and the department had just been created, nine years later still working for Farm Bureau Insurance Company, Life Financial Department, West Des Moines.

  We have lived in and visited a good deal of our grand country, and lived in Japan for three years.  But when Randy retired (from the Navy) he said it was time to go home.  So back to Iowa we came.  Our daughters both graduated from Winterset.  Participated in more activities than their mother.  Now two of our grandchildren are attending school here.

  Our lives are very blessed and busy.  Besides working, we spend "a lot" of time with our grandchildren.  I love being outside and working in the flower gardens, and computers, both hobbies can take up time.  I teach Sunday school, and I am the Secretary/Treasurer for our church.

  Years ago could not wait to leave this small town, in fact I did the day after graduation.  Now there is no other place I would rather live.
