I stay very busy with several volunteer jobs. At the WAIF animal shelter (www.waifanimals.org). I help care for the cats and take their photos for the shelter’s web page. I’m also a coordinator for WSU/Island County Beach Watchers’ beach monitoring program and belong to the Central Puget Sound Marine Mammal Stranding Network. Last winter Bob and I signed up for scuba classes so we’ve been out exploring the depths of Puget Sound. The best thing we’ve encountered so far was a giant Pacific octopus in about 60 feet of water off the west side of Whidbey Island. My other pastimes include reading, photography, and learning about marine biology.
